The Friends of the Library host author and entertainment programs the second Wednesday of every month at 10:30 am in the Library Meeting room. |

Friends Membership Chair, Larry Ramirez, and local author Fred Garth, discuss Garth's third publication, A Good Day to Live, the first in a two book series (Perdido) about the Gulf Coast. Fred spent his summers as a young boy in the Gulf Coast. Residents will find the boy's-eye description of the Island as it was years ago very entertaining.

Jennie Helderman, author of three nonfiction books and a Pushcart Prize nominee for fiction, joined Friends of the Library and other literature lovers Wednesday, July 13, 2011 for a reading and discussion of her latest book, As the Sycamore Grows. An Alabama native, Ms. Helderman is in demand as an author and lecturer throughout the southeast, and welcomed many friends to the library. |

The current Orange Beach Elementary School (K-6) building was built in 1997. It is located at 1400 Wilson Blvd. The previous school was built in 1910 on Canal Road on the south shore of Bay La Launch (near the Baptist church). This school was moved in 19__ and now serves as the Indian and Sea Museum . |
