Organizing Your Holiday Card List on your PC

Are you dreading the holiday card season because you need to search through 3 old address books and last year's envelopes just to find everyone's name and address?

Let us help you greet the season with composure by organizing all of your contact information in Excel. We will cover best practices of data entry (why you want to separate first and last names), how to sort and rearrange your information and how to export the information to Word to allow the easy creation of address labels.

Digital Photos for PC

  • Downloading pictures from a digital camera to your computer
  • Organizing pictures into photo albums
  • Emailing pictures as attachments (jpeg, gif, etc.)
  • Free software for organizing or altering digital photos: Picasa (Google Photos), Paint.Net

Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own laptop computers, digital camera (and a cable to connect the two if it came with your camera) to the workshop to allow individual practice during the session.

Sharing Recipes the Easy Way, with your PC

Have you run out of photocopies of your favorite cake recipe?
Would you like to give handmade cookies as gifts this season but daunted by the thoughts of handwriting dozens of recipe cards?

In honor of the impending holiday season, attendees to this session are encouraged to bring cookies or a desert to share and the recipe used to create the confection.

Mac Drop-In

Gulf Shores High School students and other owners of Mac and MacBook computers are invited to bring them to the library for troubleshooting advice and tips for getting the most out of your laptop. A librarian with experience using the Leopard and Lion operating systems will be available to answer individual or group questions on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a free service to library users and no registration is required.
